Reflections on Greater Love

Here’s a little backstory on Greater Love . . .
In 2017, I was blessed with the opportunity to join a Christian women’s retreat in Greece. We flew to Athens and traveled by high-speed ferry across the Aegean Sea to the tiny Cycladic Island of Ios. It was a glorious trip that changed my life forever!
Several years before, when I turned fifty, God spoke the “Sea Glass” love letter into my heart during prayer time. I didn’t know what sea glass was, but when I looked it up, I understood how He had taken every broken thing in my lifetime and made it beautiful by His nature. And, yes, it took many years of His loving presence to smooth the jagged edges of my brokenness.
In the following years, I carried a copy of the “Sea Glass” love letter in my Bible. I read it often, celebrating God’s healing presence in my life.
So, as with any heartwarming story, when I went to Greece in 2017, I found my first sea glass on a beach there. God’s love letter and love notes were not lost on me. The beach was strewn with sea glass, placed there, just for me, by His loving hand.
Tucked safely in my suitcase, I brought home a handful of sand from that Greek beach and my treasured sea glass. I put it in a bottle on my desk, sealed with a Greek wine cork from my trip.
. . . one day a few years later, I walked past it and God whispered into my ear, “Sand in a bottle.” My writer’s heart leapt knowing He had just given me a heavenly story to tell.
More backstory to come . . .
